Hospicare pack is an insurance plan where you get a pre-defined ₹1000 amount for each day of hospitalisation (in addition to the telco benefits).
In case of ICU, benefits are doubled.

You have to claim within 30 days of discharge The following methods can be used.

What are Hospicare Insurance packs?
These are special recharges which offer Rs30,000 worth of health insurance cover. No paper work or documentation needed. All you need to do is recharge with Rs.51 every month and along with your mobile benefits, you get an assured Rs.1000 for every day of hospitalization which can be for any illness (including COVID-19) or accident.
What are the benefits of Hospicare medical insurance recharge packs?
Rs 51 Recharge pack offers 500 SMS + Hospitalization benefit of Rs 1000/day. Product validity is 28 days and the recharge does NOT offer any service validity.
Insurance Benefit details: In case a person is hospitalized in India for Medically Necessary Treatment of an Illness or Injury due to an Accident, he/she would receive a fixed sum of money for each continuous and completed period of Hospitalization.
- Daily cash benefit - Rs 1000 for general hospitalisation & Rs 2000 for ICU Treatment
- Limit per Hospitalisation – 10 days

What is the meaning of Hospitalization and what are the Policy conditions for admission and stay?
Hospitalization means admission in a Hospital for a minimum period of 48 consecutive hours in “In-patient department”.
As per Policy, first 24 hrs is not considered for payout.
Hospital means any institution registered as a hospital under Clinical Establishments Registration and Regulation) Act 2010
What can I use this insurance benefit for?
Hospicare medical insurance recharge plan is a benefit plan where you get a pre-defined lump sum amount for each day of hospitalization. The amount paid is irrespective of your actual hospital bill. You can use this amount for medicines, diagnostics tests any other ancillary expenses which you may incur.
What is the need for a Hospicare medical insurance pack if I already have a mediclaim policy?
Health insurance covers the majority of medical expenses but there could be other non-payables expenses such as co-pays and deductibles or incidental expenses such as transportation expenses, attendant charges etc. that could burn a hole in your pocket. Also, there is income loss due to inability to work owing to hospitalisation. The lump sum pay out from this plan can be used for all such expenses.
This health insurance pack also covers COVID-19 health insurance.
Is there an age limit for opting for this plan?
Yes. The minimum entry age is 18 years and the maximum entry age is 55 years.
Who can I purchase the policy for? I want to cover my 4 family members.
The policy gets purchased for the person whose name is registered for the particular VIL mobile number on which the Hospicare recharge Rs 51 is done. You cannot purchase this insurance product independently for any other person.
So if you have 4 family members with VIL mobile numbers in their name (as per VIL records) then you may recharge those numbers with the Hospicare prepaid recharge packs to avail the benefits.
Can I make multiple claims for same illness or accident?
Multiple claims for medically necessary treatment of same illness or injury will be covered up to maximum of 30-days per policy year.
Why is there a 1-day deductible?
Hospicare benefits are payable for prolonged hospitalisation. A stay of less than 24 hours / day care procedure is not considered “in-patient hospitalisation”. So it is a standard practise in hospicare insurance policy to have a 1-day deductible.
What is the meaning of minimum 24 hour hospitalisation?
The insured should be admitted in a hospital for at least 24 hours to avail a claim.
How can I receive a copy of Hospicare insurance policy?
Once you recharge your number, you will receive the policy activation SMS. You can download the policy details after clicking on the link provided in the sms.
I have recharged the product how do I know whether my policy is activated, I want to know the status
Your policy will be auto-activated basis successful recharge. You will receive your policy copy on SMS. You can also check your policy status in Hospicare section on Vi app.
Do I need to submit any proofs/ documents to get the Hospicare insurance policy?
No documentation or activation is required for generating your policy. Your policy will get generated automatically.
Do I have to be of certain age to get the Hospicare policy?
You can claim the Hospicare cover only if you are between 18 to 55 years of age.
Who is a "nominee"? What if I don’t have a nominee?
Nominee is a person who would get the eligible insurance amount in case of insured person’s death. In case of insured person’s death, insurance amount will only be given to the legal heir of the person. Since this is a health insurance policy, we are not insisting on nominee details. However if you want to update nominee details, you may write a mail to the Insured at care.healthinsurance@adityabirlacapital.com
I am unable to find my policy details. How can I get it again?
You can send a request for the policy details/ COI (Certificate of Insurance) through the Vi app. Anyways every time you recharge the insurer will share the policy details with you through SMS.
Will I get a physical copy of the policy?
No, you will receive policy soft copy link on SMS.
Is Vodafone Idea my insurance partner/ agent?
No, Vodafone Idea is the master policyholder of this insurance benefit. They have provided this Hospicare insurance cover via Aditya Birla Health Insurance Co. Limited (ABHI).
What will happen to my insurance if I forget to recharge within 28 days?
Your telecom & insurance benefits will lapse if not recharged within 28 days. However when you recharge again with Rs 51, we will issue a fresh policy and you can again get to enjoy the Hospitalization cover benefits . Your waiting period of 30 days will start all over again.
What happens to my insurance if I do 5 recharges at 1 go?
Your insurance benefits get extended for the next 140 days (28 days validity X 5 recharges) for Rs51
Will I get a policy renewal SMS? I have not received Policy renewal SMS.
Yes, ABHI will notify you about your insurance coverage renewal at the end of the policy period.
What is the frequency of SMS from the insurer?
Insurer will only notify customer about policy generation, renewal & cancellation.
My policy is not in the correct name. How can I change it?
Your policy gets created basis your current KYC details as per VIL records. In case the name if different you have to take another SIM in your name to enjoy Hospicare benefits
Only in cases where the VIL connection is used by blood relatives that you can change your mobile connection ownership. You have to visit a VIL store with the following documents –
Documentation :- Only paper based process permitted with below additional documents
- Self-declaration from original and new customer
- Supporting document proof to establish blood relation/legal heir
- Original user and New user both have to visit the store for verification. In case original user is not visiting, new user to carry original user’s original documents for name and address verification
- In deceased case, death certificate of original user required
1. On positive verification, the old SIM will be disconnected and a new SIM will be issued. TAT is 3-7 working days and Balance/Benefits on old number, if any will be forfeited and will not be carried forward
2. Blackout time – Approx 24 to 48 hrs
Once the ownership change has happened, a fresh policy with new name details will be issued to the customer.
My Policy activation date is incorrect?
Policy activation date will be the date on which your recharge pack benefits get activated.

What will happen if I recharge with VIL Hospicare Recharge while validity of my current recharge is still pending?
Your insurance benefit will start when the Hospicare recharge is activated.
Can I take multiple policies with multiple recharges? I have multiple SIM cards registered on my name. Can I take insurance on all?
Yes, you may recharge on all those multiple SIM cards and enjoy the telecom benefits on each of those SIM cards but the Insurance benefit is capped at one policy (Rs. 1000 per day) only for one person.
I want to cancel my Policy and want a refund?
Since it is a benefit given along with recharge, it is not possible to provide any refund for the insurance policy.
What is the validity of my insurance, and what premium do I need to pay every month?
Your policy is valid only till the pack validity of Rs.51. You do not need to pay any additional amount to avail the insurance cover.
What proof will I get that my insurance policy has been generated?
You shall receive a COI (Certificate of Insurance) on SMS from ABHI.
Is there a way to continue my insurance without recharging my Vodafone Idea SIM?
No, you need to recharge your VIL number with Rs.51 every 28 days in order to continuously avail your Insurance benefit. Your insurance policy is valid only till the validity of Rs. 51 recharge i.e. 28 days. If you do not recharge with one of the above Hospciare prepaid recharge packs, your insurance policy shall lapse & auto-cancel.
Will the Insurance benefit be available from the 1st day of the Hospicare recharge?
The policy is activated on the first Hospicare recharge itself. However, there is an initial 30-day waiting period for any new or existing illnesses. Accidents will be covered from day 1 though.
What will happen if I turn 56 post I start my policy?
In case you purchase the plan at age 55 your hospicare benefits will be active up to 1 year from date of recharge subject to continuous recharge. Other telecom recharge benefits would continue as is and would not have any impact on account of your age.
