Number to Port SIM: Here Is How to Port Your SIM

In this technologically advanced world, we depend on mobile devices to connect with friends and family, watch the latest movies and shows, complete online transactions and attend to work calls on the go. However, a reliable network with good connectivity is essential to accomplish all this and more. Additionally, phone plans that provide high-speed internet data and include valuable benefits such as data-saving options, free OTT subscriptions, fancy mobile numbers, etc., are preferred. 

Users facing issues with their network or looking for better-suited mobile plans can conveniently port to Vi using the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) facility. MNP enables subscribers to switch from one network to another without changing their numbers. 

Here is a step-by-step guide to help you Port your SIM to Vi online:

  • Visit the MNP page on the Vi App or Website 
  • Select from Postpaid or Prepaid options
  • Input your Area Pin Code & Number to port SIM
  • Or choose a Vi-exclusive fancy phone number
  • Enter your Address for free SIM home delivery
  • Select a phone as per your requirements
  • Get OTP to complete your order
  • Select a convenient slot for SIM delivery

It is crucial to remember the number 1900, as you need to generate a Unique Porting Code (UPC) using that number to port SIM. Once MNP is requested, generate UPC by sending an SMS "PORT space 10-digit mobile number" to 1900. You will receive UPC via SMS. Share the valid UPC with our Vi executive at the time of SIM home delivery.

For a smooth porting process, ensure the below mentioned criteria is followed.

Criteria for Porting:

  1. There should be no outstanding dues with the existing service provider
  2. Users should complete a minimum 90-day term with an existing telecom operator before applying for MNP to Vi
  3. The mobile number should not be prohibited by any court of law from porting
  4. There should be no ongoing requests for a change of ownership of the mobile number
